As the temperature sensor is directly on the Sense HAT, the only way to get an accurate outside temp reading is to move the HAT away from the Pi.
The cobbler kit won't work for you as it's designed to be attached to a breadboard, however we have a cable that will allow you to do this - https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi/gpio-and-breadboarding/40-pin-ribbon-cables/40-pin-gpio-male-to-female-ribbon-cable-150mm-(gertboard)
This neat little prototyping add-on board allows you to transfer those useful GPIO pins from the Raspberry Pi B+/2/3 to a breaboard or prototyping project! Simply plug the cobbler into your breadboard and use the included 40 pin ribbon cable to attach the cobbler to your Pi and you're ready to hack!
