Resistor for use with Raspberry Pi Zero
Hi there, would a 220 ohm resistor be sufficient for use with a Raspberry Pi Zero?

If you are using the 3v3 rail then you will need a resistor > 47ohms
If you are using the 5v rail then you will need a resistor > 82 ohms

So yes a 220 ohm resistor will work, but the LED won't be at full brightness

Infrared LEDs are used for remote controls (they're the little LED in the part you point at your TV) and 'night-vision' cameras, and these are high powered ones! They are 940nm wavelength, which is what nearly all devices listen to. They're 20 degree beamwidth, and work great for any kind of remote control application.

Technical Details:

  • 5mm LED
  • Clear Lens
  • 940nm Wavelength (Most Common IR WL)
  • 20 Degree Beam Width
  • Forward Current: 50 mA
  • Forward Voltage: 1.2V
  • Max Forward Voltage: 1.6V
  • Radiant Intensity: 20mW/sr
  • Manufacturer Part No. Vishay TSAL6200
