Connect via ribbon cable?
Thank you for your initial reply which mentions doubt about a Pi Zero case for the Hat only, so with the second part (ignoring the case issue), can it be connected via a ribbon cable and if so, how please? Thanks.

Separate setup
As the TV HAT is the same size as a Pi Zero, can it be mounted in a case and connected via a ribon cable instead of on top of the Pi? Then would not conflict with the ModMyPi Modular RPi 2/3 Case. If so, what extra components are needed and how would they be connected please?

  • If you can find a Pi Zero Case that it will fit in, then yes, but I doubt such a case exists.

Can these be stacked?
I would like to combine multiple tuners to cover more multiplexes - eventually having enough tuners to cover all multiplexes so that any channel may be watched at the same time. Can this be achieved with a single pi?

Can this be used for SDR (Software Defined Radio)?
Does the TV tuner support capture of I/Q signals that can be used for SDR processing? Or is it dedicated to DVB?

The Raspberry Pi TV-uHAT allows you to receive digital terrestrial TV broadcast systems which includes DVB-T and DVB-T2 on a Raspberry Pi!

With the board you can receive and view TV on a Raspberry Pi or create a TV server that allows you to stream received TV over a network to other devices. The TV uHAT can be used on all Raspberry Pi boards when running as a back-end (server for other devices on the network). Performance when receiving and viewing TV on a Pi can vary and it is recommended to use a Raspberry Pi 2, 3 or 3+ to do this. Raspberry Pi TV uHAT follows the new uHAT form factor of HAT.

The board comes with a set of mechanical spacers, a 40 way header and an Aerial adaptor. Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) is a widely adopted standard for transmitting broadcast Television, countries that have adopted the DVB standard can be found here.

Please note it is the responsibility of the end user to ensure that they have the necessary permissions / license to receive broadcast television in their country.
