Raspberry Pi Comparison Table
With so many Raspberry Pi's to choose from, it can all be a bit confusing! So, we've put together a handy table to help you decide!
If you're a new user, and your question is "which is the newest Raspberry Pi?" you really have just three options.
The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, which is by far the fastest, most user friendly and most forgiving Pi. The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ is the latest version of the flagship "Model B's" and features the most connectivity including on board 5GHz WiFi & Bluetooth. The Model B family come equipped with 4 USB ports so connecting your hardware (like a mouse & keyboard) is nice and easy. You'll never had issues with speed or software, as the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ comes with a 1.4GHz quad core processor and 1GB of RAM. The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ is designed for beginners and those new to the world of Pi.
The Raspberry Pi Model A+ is the smaller sibling of the 3 Model B+, with the same processor and onboard bluetooth and Wifi however the Model A+ has a smaller physical foot print and 512MB of memory. It's ideal for slightly smaller projects which require the speed of the B+ but have a more restricted physical space to use. This is slightly more complicated to use than the 3 Model B+, with fewer USB slots for things like your keyboard and mouse, but provides a good next step for users of the Raspberry Pi who know a bit about the Pi, but aren't quite ready to go onto...
The Raspberry Pi Zero Wireless, which is an ultra low cost, and ultra "cut-down" variant of the Raspberry Pi Model B. If you have some experience of the Raspberry Pi, then the Zero W is the latest version in the Zero family. The Raspberry Pi Zero features an unpopulated header, and only one OTG microUSB input for peripherals. The Zero is designed for embedded applications, wearables & prototyping. The Raspberry Pi Zero is slower than the Raspberry Pi 3 featuring a 1GHz single core processor and 512MB of RAM. We recommend that some experience with the Raspberry Pi Model B family is require before progressing to the Raspberry Pi Zero.
